What we collect

When you use the AI comment generator, we store:

• The options you selected (grade, subject, student type, tone)
• Your IP address (for rate limiting and abuse prevention)
• Timestamp of the request

We do not collect your name, email, or any information about your students. No account is required to use the tool.

How we use your data

We use the collected data to:

• Monitor usage and prevent abuse of the AI generation service
• Understand which grades and subjects are most popular to improve the tool
• Track our AI costs

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) — to generate report card comments. Your selected options (grade, subject, etc.) are sent to the API. No student data is sent.
• Umami Analytics — privacy-focused, cookie-free website analytics hosted on our own server. No personal data is shared with third parties.

Cookies

We do not use tracking cookies. Our analytics solution (Umami) is cookie-free. A session cookie may be set for basic site functionality.

Data retention

Generation logs are retained indefinitely for usage analytics. IP addresses may be periodically purged.
